GUIDELINES AND SAMPLE QUESTIONS FOR HISTORY ADMISSIONS TEST
The Department of History will conduct its admissions test on August 11, 2009. The test
will have three parts.
Part I consists of Short Answers that test the Examinee’s knowledge of history. 4
Questions are from Indo-Pak history/History of the Pakistan Movement and 1 Questions
is from European history. (20 Marks)

Part II consists of Reasoning Skills/General Knowledge. There are five questions that
will test your general knowledge and common sense. (10 marks)
What is the name of China’s ruling party?
In Japan and England the head of government is officially called the Prime Minister.
What are the official titles of the Heads of State of these two countries?
Part III consists of 5 Essay questions of which you have to attempt 1. The Essay
questions are diverse and will require you to give an opinion or comment on
contemporary or historical events/personalities. Your grade in the essay will be
determined by how well you write, the information that you use, and your ability to give
and defend an opinion. (70 marks)
