SECTION-A (60 Marks)
Q. No.1 Explain any THREE (03) of the following with reference to the context. Each answer must be in
100-125 words. (15)
a) “I have had mine ….. the one that was never written”.
b) “People always say we’re the oldest and dullest family in the country. Nothing ever happens to the Sydney”.
c) “He looked down at the pearl in his hand. But how could he test it, in the light of the river, in the light of the eyes of Diana?”
d) “Three times I‘ve fought duel on account of women. I’ve refused twelve women, and nine have refused me.”
e) Now one could imagine that the little front legs rubbed against each other lightly, joyfully. The horrible danger was over, it had escaped; it was ready for life again.

d) Write a note on Henry’s lunch room and what happened there in “The Killers” by E. Hemmingway.

a) Write a note on the character of Popova as a loving wife but a woman of unpredictable nature in “The Bear” by Anton Chekov.
b) Lucy fails not only as a mother but also as a wife. Elaborate with reference to “Smoke Screens” by Harold Brighouse.

c) Change the voice of any THREE (03) of the following. (3)

iv. I have told you that I am nervous.
d) Correct any THREE (03) of the following. (3)
i. How wonderful the stars is !
ii. The king is there himself in his coffin.
iii. She again took no notice for him.
iv. The man and the panther looked at another.
e) Give a one word substitution of any TWO (02) of the following. (2)
i. Property or money brought by a bride to her husband on her marriage.
ii. Growing from childhood to maturity.
iii. A woman whose husband has died and who has not married again.
f) Use the correct form of the verb given in brackets. Attempt any TWO (02). (2)
